PRR 8114, BS-16M, 1964
Title:  PRR 8114, BS-16M, 1964
Description:  4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 5 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8114 and #8969. Both are BS-16M's built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #8114 was built as Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad number "40" in May of 1951, leased by the PRR from 1960 through 1962, then purchased by the PRR and renumbered "8114" in 1963, and retired in September of 1967. #8969 was built in June of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. In this context, they're parked near the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower at the end of a busy day.
