Minuteman Heritage

Big G
Title:  Big G
Description:  The logo that would symbol the end of the colorful and separate identities of some of New England's largest railroads still lives on the side of this 1953 vintage switcher even after the company itself has changed its own image.

Some Things Never Change
Title:  Some Things Never Change
Description:  Despite coming under the ownership of at least three different companies over the course of its lifetime as a result of sale and merger, the unit still retains the B&M style numberboards on the front that were characteristic of most diesel switchers on the "Route of the Minuteman."

Springfield Terminal
Title:  Springfield Terminal
Description:  More history along the side of the hood on this switcher. The most obvious is the lettering for Springfield Terminal, evidence from the days when Guilford attempted to consolidate operations and equipment of their larger railroad companies under the name and operating rules of a former Vermont shortline. Not as easy to spot but still visible under the gray is lettering of the Boston & Maine consistent with the maroon and gold scheme of the 1950s.

MBRX 1423
Title:  MBRX 1423
Description:  One of the few diesel switchers that survive from the Boston & Maine Railroad. Even rarer might be the fact that it displays evidence of three different paint schemes worn throughout its operating history within New England.
