| VMV SDP45 6689 and sibling 6688 were heading westbound up the Huey P. Long Bridge on the run-through train from Birmingham to Houston via the Norfolk Southern and the Southern Pacific. The 6689 had been built in August 1970 as Erie Lackawanna 3658 and became Conrail 6689 in 1976. The 15 units in this order, EL 3654-3668/CR 6685-6699, were returned to their lessor in late 1984 and became VMV lease units in 1987. These two locos were on lease to the SP when this photo was taken. |
