Pha Sadet Station
Title:  Pha Sadet Station
Description:  Pha Sadet Station on SRT's Northeastern Main, KP138.95 [86.8 mi. from Bangkok]. This is one of the most famed and prettiest Stations in Thailand, and located about halfway along the climb from Kang Khoi to Hin Lap deep in the Don Phraya Range. A standing memorial to HRH King Rama 9 adorns one side of the station.

SRT 4023W pass Pha Sadet memorial
Title:  SRT 4023W pass Pha Sadet memorial
Description:  Just 1/2 mile downhill of Pha Sadet station is this memorial at the end of the road and valley. There is a parking area and a short walk takes guests to this viewing patio, while another path crosses the tracks to the memorial on the opposite side. Just out of view to the left is a small shrine for those who wish to pay respects. We were alerted to this light return helper movement by a soft crossing chime which sounded about 45 seconds before anything showed, a great safety consideration and prepatory notice for Guests who linger here. I took the photo a bit prematurely in order to get the memorial in and not blocked out. This rock was left in place when the line was built through here in 1895 and may have been minimally cut to clear train sides. The then King and Queen of Siam [HRH's Rama 5] had a residence near here and inscribed thier names on the rock, thus turning it into a place of notability.

SRT 4023Pha Sadet memorial S2
Title:  SRT 4023Pha Sadet memorial S2
Description:  A 'best i can get shot', SRT GE UM12C 4023 drifts downhill into a virtual jungle after just having passed Pha Sadet rock. She is returning light to Kang Khoi after having assisted with a heavy eastbounder. The concrete post reads; 'Limit of Shunt' or, in plain US English; 'Yard Limit'! [The passing siding begins about 1/3 mile upline]

SRT 4109E Pha Sadet
Title:  SRT 4109E Pha Sadet
Description:  One of my fave shots of this trip, 1975 built AD24C 4109 sounded great walking uphill with this 3rd and 2nd class train approaching Pha Sadet station. We had barely been here 10 minutes when she announced herself and pulled to a short stop at the station.

Meet at Pha Sadet
Title:  Meet at Pha Sadet
Description:  On a very warm and hazy Feb 12th I was fortunate to be able to once again visit Pha Sadet and catch an afternoon meet as seen in the following photos. Here, utilizing all the power of an SD24, AD24C SRT 4115 has her hands full getting the afternoon mixed into Pha Sadet's passing siding for a meet and breather. Telephoto enhances the gradient she was up against, we could hear her fighting her way uphill for several minutes before coming into view! {Great Show; 4115!}

Meet at Pha Sadet
Title:  Meet at Pha Sadet
Description:  With nothing immediately in the schedule after catching the afternoon meet, we took the short drive to road's end and parked at Pha Sadet rock. After only a few more minutes the approach chime sounded giving us time to set up for photography..soon, around the sharp curve comes this rare bird of the SRT, 1983 built Alstom 4306: it is one of only 9 examples in this order and number series. Likely they were replacements for fleet attruition. SRT would go on to a final order of 20 more AD24's in 1985. This battleworn ol' gal was likely doing helper service and coming home for the next job..
