| The soils behind the abutment have been removed to allow repairs to the backwall. The backwall (visible in the extreme bottom center of the photo) is located on top of the abutment and protects the end of the bridge from ballast and soil erosion. Note fully installed piles and steel lagging to maintain the existing track structure for Track 1. |
