Looking south. Tracks were not near as bad as the telephoto lens makes them look. That's a CPI&P EMD AB6 on the train.

Marty Bernard General Tim, the Santa Fe train approaching from behind the camera is not cleared to cross the diamonds. It is cleared to the diamonds, and beyond the diamonds, but the semaphore on the station platform indicates it should not cross the diamonds. At least that is the way I read it. That is important if the Santa Fe train is a short passenger train, which at this time there were not any short ones. A short one, such as the three-car GM&O commuter, could make its station stop without fouling the diamonds. Clearing it beyond the interlocking early, keeps the levermen from forgetting. If you look real close on the near signal bridge there are little semaphore pot signals. I do not know what those were/are for. Help! 3/28/2007 4:59:14 PM
Marty Bernard General My guess is that the little pot signals allow a northbound train to enter an occupied block in order to clear the diamonds/interlockng plant. 3/28/2007 5:03:29 PM
