| We decided that we wanted to make progress on getting into and through Chicago that way we wouldnt be pinned by train watching and end up never making it to the museum, so we decided not to follow any of the big railways and just follow US 30 up to Chicago. US 30 parallels the CFE pretty closely between Plymouth and Valparaiso. Sure enough as we were coming into Hamlet, CFE 03 was getting a proceed on the track warrant the crew from Warsaw was using. And not only that, but the only G&W painted Dash 8 on the roster was the leader. We moved into Hamlet and grabbed the train now doing track speed by the grain elevator. While it is a shame the standard cabs are gone, these Dash 8s sure do look awesome in that G&W orange. We made an attempt to try to get the train passing the distant PL at Hanna. But, I overjudged where the signal was and we ended up missing it there. |
