With the timetable change in December 2020, the train journey between Zurich and Munich became shorter. This improvement in service is possible thanks to the electrification and modernization of 155 kilometers of track. The expansion on German territory is the last major project to be implemented as part of the program agreed in 2005 to connect Switzerland to the European high-speed rail network. Switzerland provided $75 million to Germany for the electrification.
