Caboose #28 (along with #27) were built by EBT shop forces in 1920 to replace a pair of 4 wheel cars. Both cars ran until the end of service in 1956 and when the railroad reopened in 1960 #28 was pressed into passenger service. By 2003 the car was rotting away in several places so the volunteer group Friends of the East Broad Top started a restoration of the caboose that was completed in 2004. The car has 24” wheels, is 28' 2” long, 12' 5” high and 7 9-1/2” wide excluding grab irons. For more information on the railroad's roster visit the FEBT website |
