The afternoon sun catches this whitelined powerhouse of a locomotive now relegated to the scrap line at the Enola, PA, yard. Built by PRR Altoona and Westinghouse in January of 1938, it served on three rosters - PRR, PC & CR - before being dismissed from service in February of 1980 after 42 years. Conrail conductor Ken Taylor documented this last step before it disappeared under the scrapper's torch. |
