| Chicago & North Western Railway caboose 12432 at Proviso, Illinois, sometime around April 1943, photograph by Jack Delano, image from the Library of Congress ( LoC ). While searching for other images, I came across this image and could not pass it up. It was also marked: No known restrictions on publication. There were many photographs of C&NW steam ( and other railroad subjects ) available at the LoC for free download in a variety of sizes and formats. I downloaded this image as a 90 meg .tiff format so I could clean up the dust and scratches. I recommend downloading these images before some budget cutback shuts this resource down. |
