Interesting note on back of photo by the unknown photographer describes the action - "CN 2615 (N-41) 1907, ahead of 9-8-9 (sic), ready to do St Catherines Way freight as steam power comes out for the day. 4:30am" This took place at the Niagara Falls Terminal in Ontario, Canada. The loco was built by Alco-Schenectady in August of 1907 (serial #43554) as-GTR 765, GTR class D5, Absorbed by CN in 1923, it was renumbered as 2615, CN class N-4a. The unit was scrapped February of 1960 after 53 years of service. |
