The northbound PANAMA LIMITED was leaning into the curve on the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal WESTERN CONNECTION between KCS Junction and Southport Junction. KCS Junction, about half way back in the train, was the switch where the KCS track in the foreground connected with NOUPT track. The houses on the right were on Livingston Street, while the thoroughfare on the left was Airline Highway (U.S. 61). When NOUPT opened in 1954, 26 passenger trains passed here each day: 8 IC, 6 SP and 4 each KCS, MP and T&P. (approximate day) |
