George Horna slide. The 3029 was the only black unit to receive the "split rail IC". This GP40 was built in 1966 and was from the first order of GP40's. The GP40's brought many "firsts' to the IC roster: the first units with the 645 prime mover, the first units with a turbocharger and the first units with an AC generator. The IC experienced many issues with the new GP40's including leaking fuel injectors, cracks in the center casting area and traction motor flashovers. |
