PRR 9547, EF-15A, #2 of 2, 1960
Road Power. Here is an original photo that I took of road locomotives in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, in August of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9547 and #9693. Both are EF-15A's built by GM-EMD as EH-15's for helper service, rated at 1,500 horsepower each, but later regeared and reclassified as EF-15A's. #9547 was built in November of 1948 and retired in December of 1963, while #9693 was built in April of 1949 and retired in October of 1967. This photo was taken at the Bedford Street Crossing, next to the Passenger Station. From here, the train will pass WYE Tower in Duncansville, climb the Allegheny Mountains using the New Portage Branch Line, and merge eventually with the mainline at Gallitzin.
