Power car  Contributor's Pick!
To assist with train hotel power, this power car is coupled behind the locomotives. Youd think HEP equipped F40s could handle the power draw of a 9 car train, but see the comment belowfrom Robert Petit.

Robert E. Petit Jr. General F-40's run in notch 8 when supplying HEP, this cost a lot in fuel, takes about 500 hp away from tractive effort. Using a power car that has a CAT HEP pack uses less fuel, and allows for the full 3200 hp of the F-40's to be used for pulling the train. It just makes good business sense to use the power car. 10/31/2016 12:41:10 AM
