Built by the Magor Car Company in 1931, this caboose was part of a group of five ordered by the Lehigh & New England Railroad. Assigned number 575, it could be seen on the back of LNE freights until sale to the Northampton & Bath Railroad in 1960. It was renumbered as NB 102 and had the cupola removed. In the 1970s, it was acquired by the McHugh Bros., was renumbered 199, and spent the next few decades traveling around to different shortline railroads operated by the trucking company, including the New Hope & Ivyland, Shore Fast Line Railroad, and the Tyburn Railroad. Acquired back by the current New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, it is one of two wood sided LNE cabooses from Magor in the fleet, the two bearing consecutive numbers. |
