| UP GP9 299 at Council Bluffs, Iowa on January 17, 1958, Kodachrome by unknown photographer, Chuck Zeiler. Built in September 1954 (c/n19896) and equipped with a steam generator, which was removed in April, 1972. This locomotive was retired in July 1982 and sold for scrap. According to utahrails.net, this locomotive was built with tanks of 800 gallon capaciy for both fuel and water, and when the steam generator was removed, a single 2400 gallon fuel tank was installed. |
