A Rare Occurrence  Contributor's Pick!
This photo documents one of the most unusual moments in railroading that I have ever witnessed. NS 212, on track two (the track to the right), passes NS 172 on track one (the track to the left) at Magnolia and Brawley Streets. The original plan was to have 172 sit at Beaumont (one C.P. down from Magnolia, where it becomes a single track) and wait for 212 to clear her and then follow, but 212 caught up to 172 too fast. So 212 passed an also moving 172 at Magnolia and I was able to capture it on camera!
