Southern Pacific SD45R 7551 was the first SP unit to wear the colors of the proposed Southern Pacific Santa Fe merger. The unit originally had white SP initials on the hood and nose, but they were later changed to yellow. The striping on the sides of the nose and the red/black color break on the hood were also different than the other units in this scheme. This engine began life as SP SD45 8985. |
