Kansas City Southern GP40 775 was parked at WEST YARD, just outside of New Orleans, in fresh white paint. It had been built in September 1968 as Penn Central 3150 (EMD 34327) and was acquired by the KCS in October 1983, after its initial 15-year lease expired. KCS sent it to Morrison- Knudsen’s BOISE LOCOMOTIVE SHOP in July 1991 to be upgraded into a GP40M-2, and it was released as the 4783 on 18 October 1991. It was subsequently renumbered 2830. |
