A pair of Indiana RR SD60s (6009, 6006) turn to the west off the old Monon and onto the former CP/SOO/MILW tracks in Bedford Indiana. Bedford, located in the heart of Indiana's limestone cutting region, used to host the Monon, Milwaukee Road and B&O. The only set of through tracks now come up from Mitchell over the former Monon (now CSX) which splits the town through five blocks of street running. They then turn 90 degrees to the west (as shown here) and intersect the original MILW route, which is seen running to the left (that's the old Milwaukee depot in the background). They then turn back to the southwest and dive back into the Indiana woods and coal country while heading in the general direction of Terre Haute and Chicago. |
