Four units haul a BN stack train around the hard curve above Trinidad in May 1989. The train, behind three SD40-2s and an Oakway SD60, is making its way around the apex of the curve and will soon enter the short tunnel 11 before continuing east towards Spokane. The "Loop" (actually more of a hairpin curve) is located about 25 miles east of Wenatchee and marks the point where the former Great Northern left the Columbia river valley and climbed into the high desert of central Washington. The spot is probably one of the less heralded railfan locations in the west. |
