Behind me was a tavern, and unfortunately, I was a minor so I never saw the inside of the tavern, but I did witness folks arriving on the CB&Q would frequent the tavern on their way home, a club house from my teenage perspective. |

This small, brick station was opened off 6th Street in 1959 to replace the cavernous old St Jo Union Depot located downtown. As of 1960 it had 12 trains a day and you ride to KC, Omaha, Lincoln and Chicago from here. It's last passenger train, a one-car BN Kansas City to Omaha operation, departed on the eve of Amtrak. I shot this picture fully intending to come back and get one of it in better light- alas, the building was knocked down in 2008. |
