Description:  Usually the DPU will be at the end of the train, except where there are intermodal cars of auto racks, in which case it will be ahead of them. This H train had its DPU ahead of a pair of side dump cars which had been used in fixing the recent washout here at Watts. My guess is that they are restricted from being pushed.

Description:  I had chased the H train down to Baron and was returning home through Westville, when I looked over to see a TXUX train going south. There was no way I was going to catch the head end without a ride back to Baron, so I opted to get the shot of the trailing units across the pasture. A nice looking set of power trails south, giving the heavy train a push past some future steaks.

The pulpwood truck partially visible at left is unloading logs which will soon be loaded onto pulpwood cars to be shipped somewhere else, a process which seems to have started sometime last year. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is visible up on the hill.

From its founding in 1883 until 26 Jun. '13, the Kaukauna paper mill was Thilmany Pulp and Paper Co. (a.k.a. Thilmany, LLC or Thilmany Papers).

Description:  A CN local shoves a string of cars across Garners Creek and into the east side of the Appleton Coated, LLC paper mill at Combined Locks, WI on 3 Mar. '17. Founded in 1889 as the Combined Locks Paper Co., it became Combined Paper Mills, Inc. in ‘46 after it purchased a paper mill in PA. Acquired by the National Cash Register Co. in ‘69, it was merged with Appleton Coated Paper Co. in ‘71 to form Appleton Papers, Inc. Known as Appleton Papers Locks Mill, it has been controlled by several different domestic and foreign owners over the years. It was separated from Appleton Papers in ‘00 and became Appleton Coated, LLC. There are currently 2 spurs on this side of the facility and 4 on the west side, there used to be more. The station sign is on the right, I do not know when the depot was removed.
