Rare widecab |
Description: |
SOO had five SD60Ms, which occasionally made their way to the east. It was always good to see them, especially in the lead, which was unusual. Got lucky this day, as 164 rolls through Bevier St with not only the SOO widecab, but a WC unit as well. The irony is that WC was a SOO predecessor, but is now part of the CN system. |

Rollout of Swiss EC250 high speed - low floor train |
Description: |
Peter Spuhler, the owner of Stadler Rail. Stadler is not only celebrating the roll-out of the EC250, but also the company’s 75th anniversary. In 1942, in the midst of World War II, Ernst Stadler founded an engineering firm in Zurich that specialised in the development and construction of locomotives. In 1987, Peter Spuhler joined the company and purchased it two years later with a bank loan. At the time, the company only had 18 employees and a turnover of $ 4.5 million. Today it has a turnover of $ 2.1 billion and a workforce of over 7000 based in various locations across Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Belarus, Algeria and the United States. |

Title: |
Rollout of Swiss EC250 high speed - low floor train |
Description: |
The EC250 was designed with a special focus on comfort and customer-friendliness, in particular for families, senior citizens and persons with special mobility needs. The low-floor access, an innovation for a mass-produced high-speed multiple unit train, transforms climbing aboard for passengers to simply stepping inside. The Stadler offer to SBB ended up with 34'000 pages of description ! |
