C&NW SD45 955
Description:
C&NW SD45 955 at Proviso, Illinois, Oct. 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in January 1969 (c/n 34588) on EMD Order 7148, it was retired and sold to VMV Enterprises, Paducah, Kentucky, in October 1989, rebuilt in 1995 as a SD40-3, becoming KCS 631 (second). Apparently, EMD must have moved the fairing for the dynamic brakes to the radiator section when the locomotive was ordered without dynamic brakes. For those interested the locomotive behind is a GP30, CR 2193, and the third unit is a GP35, RDG/CR 3628.
