Spotted at the Burckeye Yard in Columbus, OH by an unknown rail fan, this EMD GP7 was built in December of 1950 as ERIE 1401. The loco tehn became EL-1401 after the merger. , On the Conrail roster, the loco became CR 5921. It was painted in the Conrail blue scheme on 3/11/1977. Final disposition is unknown. No photographer was listed for the photo. |

Description: |
Looking very much used, this former EL GP7 was sitting in the Juniata Yard in Altoona, PA, awaiting it's fate. Originally built by EMD in September of 1952 as ERIE 1243, it went on to the EL roster as EL #1243, When it moved over to the Convrail roster, it became CR #5981. Unfortunately, the loco was scrapped just a few months after the photo was taken by an unnknown photographer. This may have been the last image of it before being scrapped in Ausut of 1979. |

Conrail GP7 #5802 was built by EMD in 1953 originally as NYC #5802. It rolled over to the Penn Central roster as PC 5802 - you can still see the "mating worms" loco on the front side. It moved over to Conrail after the collapse of PC and it still retained the same number. . The earliest CR stenciling was done in May of 1977. Final disposition was not found. No photographer or exact day in February, 1980 was listed. |

Built by EMD in August of 1951 originally as DLW #953, the loco was renumbered after the Erie Lackawanna merger to EL 1272. When the loco moved over to the Conrail roster, it was renumbered CR 5987. Final disposition is unknown. No photographer, date or location was listed for the photo. Does anyone recognize this yard and engine shop? It looks familiar to me but I just can't pull the location out of my memory yet. |
