Built by EMD in January of 1954 as UP GP9 #304, the loco is a true boomer locomotive having bounced through at least 7 rosters after leaving its original roster of Union Pacific (EMD, 1/1954). The boomer list is - nee-UP 224>SDAE 101>KYLE 101>SJVR 101>SJVR 1761>LCR 1761>WRIX 1761> lastly NPR 1761. The most recent photo in the RRPA database was taken in February of 2020 as NPR #1761. Vincent J. Porreca took this color slide while it wore the KYLE number. |

KYLE GP9R #104 |
Description: |
Originally built by EMD in July of 1957 as UP GP9 #308, this loco bounced from one roster to another - SDAE #104 > KYLE #104 > SJVR #104 > #1764. in the RRPA database was back in July of 1995 while it was on the San Joaquin Valley roster as #1764. In this last photo in the RRPA database, it appears that the loco may be in a storage/scrap line in Eugene, OR, at the time the photo was taken. Current disposition is unknown but presumed scrapped. Vincent J. Porreca took this color slide. |
