IC Caboose #9914 - Illinois Central |
| Description: |
According to the Hoosier Valley RR Museum webpage, IC #9914 is one of the 9900-series cabooses built for the IC. It later became Chicago & ndiana no. 100 and a caboose for the Tippecanoe Railroad (un-numbered). The caboose was burned out on the inside and was later renovated by the museum as a display car, becoming HVRM no. 99. In 2013, the caboose entered an extensive rehabilitation by museum volunteers. The museum has never been able to determine the elusive original number. HVRM member Dan Siple bought the caboose and donated it to our museum on July 8, 1991. |

| Description: |
This transfer caboose awaiting restoration was originally Monon #81551 and was at one time, part of the Louisville & Nashville roster. Later it landed on the Indiana Transportation Museum roster. With the sudden demise and liquidation of that museum in Noblesville in 2019, the Hoosier Valley RR Museum was lucky enough to save the caboose from destruction. It awaits its restoration day. |

NKP Caboose #471 - Nickel Plate Road |
| Description: |
Beautifully restored Nickel Plate Road caboose #471. According to the Hoosier Valley RR museum webpage, NKP #471 was built in August of 1962 by International Car in Kenton, Ohio. This caboose was built as NKP no. 471 and became Norfolk & Western no. 557571 when the two roads merged. The caboose was also leased to the Wheeling & Lake Erie in the early 1990s. The caboose was then returned to Norfolk Southern, who in turn donated the caboose to the museum. NKP 471 arrived at the museum on July 8, 1995. This type of caboose is known as a bay window caboose and was used by the Nickel Plate Road in high-speed freight service. |
