Description:  Here is an original photo by John S. Fisher that was taken in Columbus, Ohio, in November of 1954. Caption On Reverse: "Pennsy 4-6-0 at Columbus. Dead Engine. Nov. '54." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1844, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during August of 1923 and retired in February of 1955 after 32 years of faithful service. It's already been stripped of its "Keystone" number plate, builder's badge, and bell ~ not to mention its pride and dignity!

Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3874, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during June of 1923 and retired in April of 1956 after 33 years of faithful service. Partially visible at the right is one of the PRR's Q-2 (4-4-6-4) "Duplex" locomotives; it's headed to the Recycling Center too!
