Album Info:Roseville is located at a busy crossroads in California's rail network. Located northeast of Sacramento, Roseville is home to the massive J.R. Davis yard, owned by Union Pacific. This is ex-Southern Pacific territory, and trains originating here cross the famed Donner Pass heading east, follow the Cal-P line west to Oakland, traverse the Central Valley lines south to Los Angeles, or turn north, along the ex-Western Pacific through Feather River Canyon, or further north into Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Also includes images of trains along the UP Martinez Sub between Roseville and CP Sacramento.

Description:  UP 8533 is the second unit on a power move moving east through Rosevilles J.R. Davis Yard. The SD70ACe was built by EMD in the mid-2000s. This power move was preceeding the arrival of the eastbound California Zephyr in Roseville by around 20 minutes.

Description:  Union Pacific 6152 is the third unit on a power move rolling past the Roseville Amtrak station. 6152 is an AC44CW, originally built as Southern Pacific 104 in mid 1995. The unit would carry its SP number over 6 years into the post-merger era, before finally being patched with a UP number in the early 2000s. The unit wouldnt get the full Armour Yellow paint until mid 2015.

Title:  UP 5346
Description:  UP 5346, an AC45CCTE, brings up the rear of a four-unit power move rolling north past the Amtrak station in Roseville. UP classifies this unit as an AC45CCTE, while in reality it is a standard General Electric ES44AC. The UP moniker stands for Alternating Current 4400 Horsepower C-Truck Controlled Tractive Effort. Other sources classify these units as C45ACCTE (Switching the truck type and current type in the designation). The 45 in the model designation does not reflect the horsepower, and instead is meant to differentiate from the older AC4400CWs, which are classified AC44CWCTE or C44ACCTE.

Amtrak got its start in 1971, when the government took over passenger service from 20 different railroads across the nation. Some routes were cancelled, while some recieved revitalizations.
